I wanted to pass on a press release from Amber at Elder Care Services. Please help our seniors deal with the cold temperatures ahead! -Jason Taylor
Cold Weather proves tough on seniors
TALLAHASSEE, FL - November 1, 2012 – It’s getting into the winter months, and temperatures are starting to drop. For some, the onset of cold weather means it’s time to turn up the thermostat. However, for many struggling seniors, that’s not an option. Currently, Elder Care Services is averaging 6 to 8 requests a day by seniors needing blankets, heaters, and even assistance with paying their utility bills.
One of the challenges with the winter season is that cold spells often occur suddenly. Because of this, ECS relies on individual and community donations to help aid with these requests. We currently have no heaters or blankets in stock, and with the current frigid temperatures, requests are expected to increase over the next two months. The donations we receive will allow us to continue to assist those in need.
Donations can be made by calling ECS at 850-921-5554, visiting our web site at www.ecsbigbend.org or by mailing donations to ECS, 2518 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee, FL 32304.
Elder Care Services, Inc. is a private non-profit corporation, dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors in Leon and the surrounding counties, allowing them to remain at home with dignity.
